A Night in Pattaya (Day 5)

 

Water festival is still going on in Pattaya…

Thai is definitely the conflict avoidance culture, here is a little example. The bus we took from Bangkok got lost and missed our hotel. The driver and his copilot were arguing back and forth about why they missed it and what’s going on. To our request on dropping us off at the correct street they kept saying yes yes yes, ok ok. When we finally arrived at the last stop with us being the only ones left, the driver jumped out of the bus saying yes yes ok ok. Some girl came over to inform us that this is the last stop and that we have to take a taxi to our hotel. We told her that the driver missed out stop and told us he’d come back. She said, yes, you go back by taxi. Long story short, by the time we arrived at the hotel, going for a swim fully closed wouldn't have gotten us any wetter.

When we finally arrived at hotel, we were all wet. We got a bucket of water threw to us several times even we had langage with us…  Luckily our PC and camera are still working….. This was crazy…  We anyway have to thank for water splash in Thai tradition…

Pattaya Beach

Regardless of where you are, American advertisement is deeply embedded into our skulls. We saw that fish massage heavily advertised on US TV (at a fraction of the price), and decided (after negotiating the price to include a free back massage) to give it a try.

It was a mixture of feelings, funny / weird / scared / ticklish. Even though we bought half an hour of this ‘massage’ I couldn’t keep my feet in the water for more than a few seconds at a time.

It was a fun experience, not sure if I want to repeat it. Yumis friend was convinced that his skin was much smoother afterwards.

So sad we could not show what happened in our later night… We saw a ping-pong show. An hour long magic show where women pull out various objects out of the vagoo. Blowing candle show… and shooting projectiles at balloons using the vagoo. There were many many ‘magic’ tricks we saw that night… ;)
